About Ngagyur Shedup Charity Foundation
Tibet is a holy land with a unique culture and ancient customs. This ancient country has been graced by many great enlightened Masters and is filled with many temples, monasteries and sacred sites since Buddhism took root here many centuries ago. Despite its cultural diversity and rich traditions it is also one of the poorest regions in the world and for much of its population, daily life is difficult. More than half of the population live below the poverty line. The harsh cold climate also adds to the suffering of the people.
Ngagyur Shedup Charity Foundation (NSCF) was established in 2006 by our Spiritual Director and precious root guru, Sonam Rinpoche. It is Rinpoche’s greatest wish in life to continuously uphold and propagate the Buddha’s teachings for the benefit of all sentient beings, and most importantly to actualize the dharma into action in the secular world.
From an early age, with his spontaneous Bodhicitta, Rinpoche has always had a strong desire to help underprivileged children, particularly those in Tibet where poverty has prevailed from generation to generation.
In mid 2006, through Rinpoche’s tireless efforts, his dream was realized. Together with a group of devoted disciples inspired by Rinpoche’s compassion and energy, he set up the NSCF.
Vision and Objectives
Ngagyur Shedup Charity Foundation (NSCF) is a non-profit social welfare organisation dedicated to constructing a multi-purpose building for the benefit of local Tibetan communities.
Our vision is to be able to alleviate the sufferings of the Tibetans. The aim of NSCF is to bring hope and serve the unfortunate Tibetans by providing food, shelter, clothing, and education as well as spiritual and emotional support based on the principles of compassion, wisdom and skillful means.
Our motto for this project is “Care, love and hope.”
NSCF has three main objectives:
- To provide a home, food and education for children who are orphaned, abandoned or underprivileged so that they may grow up with a hopeful future ahead of them.
- To provide basic essentials and shelter for the elderly who are homeless, so that they may spend the rest of their lives in meditation retreat under our care and support.
- To enable the development of one’s full potential of wisdom and compassion through a fully accredited Buddhist university offering graduate and undergraduate education in Buddhist studies.
NSCF is a charitable organisation that receives no governmental funding and relies solely on the contributions of donors from all over the world to assist us in our effort to shelter and educate those children and elderly in need.
